About the Role:


The VP, Worldwide Sales Engineering Leader will have overall responsibility for the Worldwide Pre-Sales technical sales organization - leading a team of approximately 400 Sales Engineers (SE's) that enable the sales team to exceed quota objectives for the McAfee products and solutions. This involves hands-on engagement through building cohesive global teams, developing strong technical sales talent, supporting the sales process, managing operational efficiencies, and building customer trust and loyalty.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership – Managing the global leadership of the Pre-Sales organization responsible for creating proactive initiatives and solutions to support the business and providing motivation / inspiration by leading / demonstrating by example.

Management - Responsible for the operational line management of a team of SE's, including performance management, talent development, alignment to corporate strategic initiatives, annual reviews, company policies, coaching, training and development.

Customers - Building customer relationships and trust through strong executive presence. This involves executing senior level customer executive meetings and presentations. Working with the sales teams to ensure that customers and partners are satisfied on all technical Pre-Sales interactions regarding the McAfee portfolio, and overseeing ongoing customer satisfaction and relationships to build continued account growth.

Solutions - Firm grasp of the McAfee value proposition, and the product and service solutions that underpin it. Overseeing and validating proposed solutions for major opportunities.

Public Speaking - Presentations and public speaking representing McAfee in internal and external events. A core leader of the presentation team within the McAfee Executive Briefing Center.

Talent Acquisition - Identify and hire quality and high-potential talent for the SE team.

Team Development - Ensure the SE team has the appropriate soft skills, domain and market knowledge and technical skills in the product portfolio to support the sales team and customer engagements effectively.

Operations - Maintain an excellent, disciplined, efficient and effective system of doing business to maximize profits. Develop operational systems and processes to focus SE resources on additive account growth and talent management/accountability.

Team work - Collaborate with colleagues across the global McAfee units to ensure synchronization and to leverage broader initiatives and opportunities for success and leadership. Do the same with the key partners in your region.

Qualifications

Required Experience/Skills & Education:

The ideal candidate will have the experience of managing a large multi-national Pre-Sales team at an Enterprise solution vendor or services company. They will have proven hands-on Pre-Sales / technical experience, with strong customer focus and solution mindset and ideally have a software, networking and/or security background. The candidate should be a mature self-starter, needing low level management time and attention to perform day to day responsibilities and have a proven history of strong people management & leadership skills.

McAfee is a highly matrixed environment, and collaboration with all organizations is critical for success. The VP will have proven ability to work cross-functionally within an organization across all levels. Additionally, they will need to engage management at all levels within Sales, Pre-Sales and other functions to enhance political alignment.

The final candidate understands the market issues and trends affecting business and the use of IT to solve business problems to underpin customer executive engagements. They will have strong operational capabilities of managing budgets, talent development, and account growth strategies and the ability to create and drive initiatives and lead the global sales engineering organization to rally to those initiatives.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, the VP, Worldwide Sales Engineering Leader must have excellent verbal and written business communication skills, with excellent presentation skills in English. This role is highly visible both internally and externally, and all Executive staff members are expected to have strong personal presence and confident presentation capabilities in front of C-level meetings, large speaking engagements and internal strategic functions.

Additional requirements include:

- Hands on attitude with both customer-facing and internal tasks
- Must be prepared to travel to meet internal and customer business needs (approximately 50-75%)
- Must be located in a major global airline hub for ease of global travel

Educational Requirements:

A university degree in the field of computer science, business administration, marketing or another rigorous discipline. An advanced degree in one these fields is a strong plus.
